While it is unlikely, it is possible that one photographer may become unable to fulfill their duties for some reason. (sickness, death in the family, traumatic injury, etc.)
In this case, having the second photographer already booked and available ensures nothing will be missed on your wedding day.
It has even happened that some photographer’s memory cards become corrupted. In this situation having a backup of your wedding photos on another photographer’s camera is a true blessing.
