This here is my first couple’s adventure film. I had photographed many engagement sessions, but never through video. And I’m so glad I tried something new and created this. This film sparked new ideas and goals for my business, and for me personally as a creative. While I’ve gotten better since this, I still believe it’s a good film worth sharing.
It was January 2022. A new year, a fresh start as they say. My good friend Ryan had this idea to do a video mentorship with a guy named Chris who lived in Oregon. He kindly invited me to tag along and in March 2022 we set off to Portland, Oregon.
Before the trip, I browsed Chris’ work and was amazed at not only the quality, but also in the way he told stories. They felt natural.
We kicked off our workshop with some food (naturally), and talked all things video creation and business. I won’t bore you with all the details, but it was a really solid conversation.
That evening we met the sweet couple who would model for us, and we began to capture their sunset adventure in Government Cove near Portland, Oregon.
We had so much fun and it was refreshing to get creative with a couple out in such a scenic location. Afterwards we returned to our AirBnb and began to edit our footage. And once the edit was finished, I knew this was something I wanted to keep doing.
I’m very thankful both to Ryan for inviting me and to Chris for his guidance and mentorship. This trip showed me the beauty of the west, and also the beauty of creating an authentic-feeling couples film.
I can’t wait to keep telling amazing stories and adventuring with my couples!
